      Obituary:
MURPHY Margaret A. Murphy, born September 27, 1921 in Portsmouth, Ohio, died Friday, January 13, 2012 in Columbus, Ohio. Preceded in death by father Arthur Horr and mother Maud (Anderson) Horr, brothers Beverly and Arthur Jr. Survived by husband, Robert; children, Michael (Sally), Powatan, VA, Scott (Maureen), Wayne, PA, Stephen (Patricia), Mansfield, OH, Eileen Anding (John), Grand Rapids, MI, and Megan Boyer (Steven), Kearney, NE; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. Known to friends as Peg or Peggy, she graduated from DePauw University in 1943 with a major in Home Economics. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She was chosen as May Queen her senior year by a vote of all senior women on campus. She was married to Robert, also a DePauw graduate, on December 1, of that year, while he, a Naval Reserve officer, was home on leave. After the war, as a wife and mother she was a homemaker personified, always supportive and always there for husband and children. Much of her married life was spent in Mansfield, OH, although there was a 3 year period in Danville, CA and another of the same length in Bucyrus, OH. She was a Sunday School teacher at First Lutheran Church while living in Mansfield and a charter member of the Agnes Paulsen Garden Club. In Bucyrus she served on a Twig of the Community Hospital. In 1980, she, Robert and daughter Megan moved to Worthington. Five years later she and Robert moved to northwest Columbus and in 2004 to Kensington Place, part of Lutheran Village. In 2007 they moved to the Courtyards area of that campus, she to the Memory Care Neighborhood and he to assisted living. Both areas are part now of Summit's Trace Healthcare Center, and in 2011 she moved to the nursing home section. Family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Summit's Trace Healthcare Center, 935 North Cassady Ave., Columbus OH 43219. Following the visiting hours, a Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at All Saints Lutheran Church, 6770 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43085 with Rev. James Jensen officiating.
