Earl E. Rasmussen , lifelong resident of Kirwin, passed away Sun Aug 6,1978 at the age of 85. He was born in Troy, Ks Feb 3, 1893 and was united in marriage to Audra Ferne Ayers Sept 22, 1914 at Agra, Ks.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ferne: his father Chris Rasmussen, his mother Mary Camp, five brothers Will, George, Carl, Art and Walter Camp and four sisters, Etta Snow, Mae Smith, Ora Hoar, and Alice Bogart.
He is survived by one sister, Bessie Aobischer, Sunny Acres Ville, Denver, Co. and 3 children, Lavenya Claudell, Denver, Co, Ailene Peterson, Stockton, Ks and Leon Rasmussen, Archie Mo.
Earl is also survived by ten grandchildren most of whom were being held on a horse and led around grandpa's yard as soon as they could sit up. Many evenings grandchildren filled his lap or sat at his feet to listen to his tales of the old west which delighted them and flowed from him so naturally no one ever stopped to separate fact from fiction.
He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren. After these children were born one of the first stops was naturally great-grandfather's lap where they were loved and played with just as their parents had been.
Earl's last years were spent in the homes of his children. A few days before his death he suffered a stroke at the home of his daughter in Denver, Co.
Earl's life was one which made fond memories and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends
