She was born Oct. 25, 1930, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late John A. Larbig and Nora C. Hoar. A homemaker, Eileen was a member of St. Sebastian Church, Ross Township. She is survived by three children, Karen (Cliff) Zielinski, of Sewickley, Mark J. (Lisa) Krotec, of Shaler Township, and Dr. Kristine (Paul) Krotec Skiba, of Maryland; one sister, Margaret Larbig Hejnosz, of O'Hara Township; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Joseph M. Krotec, whom she married June 16, 1951, and died Feb. 23, 2004; and six brothers and sisters. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the ELOISE B. KYPER FUNERAL HOME, 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd. at Mt. Royal Cemetery. Hoar Elsa Doerner Hoar, 98, a 33-year resident of Olympia and Lacey, died of breast cancer Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Panorama City Convalescent Center, Lacey. She was born June 4, 1902, to Alfred and Nettie (Skinner) Doerner in Denver. She married Dr. Ira Mark Bundy on Sept. 2, 1950. He preceded her in death in 1972. She married Leslie L. Hoar on Feb. 12, 1977. He preceded her in death in 1980. Mrs. Hoar taught school in Grants Pass, Ore., and Kennewick from 1925 to 1935. She worked for the Washington State University Library from 1935 to 1967. She was a member of Delta Seat Sorority, National Federation of Business and Professionals, Pullman Senior Center, a charter member of American Association of Retired Persons, Thurston County Retired Teachers Association, Kiwanis Ladies of Olympia, Washington State University Retirees Association and the Quarter Century Club of Washington State University. She enjoyed walking, hiking, camping, dancing, swimming, cards and games, traveling, music, drama, lectures and volunteer work, especially in the Panorama City Convalescent Center. Mrs. Hoar is survived by two stepdaughters, Doris Hoar and Roasalie Woodard four step-grandchildren eight step-great-grandchildren one niece and two nephews. She also collected and enjoyed watching movies, and was an avid collector of Disney memorabilia. She is survived by her husband, James G. Simmons, whom she married June 8, 1968; son Timothy J. Simmons and his wife Barb of Hamburg, N.Y.; daughter Kimberly A. Swanson and her husband Jeff of Jamestown; grandchildren Chianne, Shane, Kiara, and Kylie Swanson, and Alexis and Peyton Simmons; brothers Bob and Dick Swoger both of Ripley, N.Y.; sisters Jane Trippy of North East, Pa., Della O'Dell of Grove City, Pa., Sandy Wagner of Erie, Pa., and Marge Butcher of Ripley, N.Y. 858 | [[ Obituary: Erwin "Rusty" Mertens Belmar resident Erwin "Rusty" Mertens died Thursday, Feb. 12 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He was 93 years old. Born in Hillside Township, he was a lifelong resident of Belmar. Mr. Mertens owned and operated Mertens Jewelers in Manasquan from when he started the business in 1946 until retiring in 2007. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army. He was a past director of the Manasquan Chamber of Commerce, a charter member of the Belmar Gun Club, member of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association, New York Watch Makers Association, the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Club and the Positive Earth Drivers Club. He loved to fish and restore automobiles. Mr. Mertens was predeceased by his wife Angeline and his daughter Claire Horr. He is survived by his son Carl of Howell and two grandchildren, Areilla and Karla. Visitation was held on Sunday, Feb. 15 at Neary Quinn Funeral Home in Manasquan. She was born in Shelley, Idaho, July 5, 1920, to Dean and Irene (Anderson) Hampton. A woman who loved life and people, Eunice enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She especially enjoyed baking bread and making pasties and sharing her cooking with friends and neighbors. Eunice enjoyed summers at her cabin on Flathead Lake and liked reading, crossword puzzles, running, preparing holiday meals and the visits of family and friends. Eunice was preceded in death by her three husbands, Claude Parks, who she married in 1937, Ben Pascoe and Leonard Hoar, who she married in 1954; sons, Leonard Hoar Jr., Mel Hoar and Shayne Parks; daughter, Bella Hoar; grandson Steven Verner; and great-granddaughter, Rachael Hoar. 864 | [[ Obituary: FALL RIVER ? Gerald "Jerry" P. Hoar, 83, a lifelong resident of Fall River, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River. Born in Fall River, the son of the late John and Rose (Hurst) Hoar, he was the husband of Vivianne L. (Gendreau) Hoar, with whom he shared a fifty-three year marriage. A 1946 graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Jerry served his country during WWII with the United States Navy. Following the completion of his military service, he joined the uniform patrol for the City of Fall River Police Department in 1951. He was assigned as a detective and, most notably, in the traffic unit where he was a motorcycle officer. He received several commendations during his tenure with the department. He later worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a State Investigator. After he retired, Jerry worked as a security officer in the Swansea Mall for several years. He was a lifetime member of the Fall River Lodge of Elks, a member of the Massachusetts Police Association, the American Legion and the Retired County and Municipal Employee's Association. In addition to his wife, Jerry leaves a son, Police Sergeant Michael K. Hoar and his wife Suk Kyong of Fall River; two daughters, Cheryl Narcizo and her husband John and Jennifer Kaliff and her husband Timothy, all of Fall River. He was the loving grandfather of JT, Nicholas, Michael, Jesse, Emily and Benjamin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hoar was the brother of the late James Hoar, John W.C. Dorothy was 83. Dorothy was born April 11, 1919 in Genesee County and was the daughter of Charles and Agnes (Gibson) Hoard and had been a life long Millington resident. Dorothy married Mr. Frank C. Benton on November 2, 1935 and together they shared 43 years of marriage before Frank passed in 1978. Dorothy was employed for many years at Fall's 5 & 10?! Value Store in Millington, she was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Millington and was once active as an adopted grandparents for the Mayville Schools. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her family; children, Roberta and Richard Lumsden of Org., Howard and Eleanor Benton of Millington, Elaine and Jim Snyder of Lapeer, MI, Willie and Sue Ill of Millington; grandchildren; Rusty, Jimmy, Clifford, Jeff, Virginia, Shelley, Eric, and Neil, as well as 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and dear friend, Polk Webster. 873 | [[ Obituary: Flint Journal, The (MI) - July 7, 2007 Deceased Name: COLMAN COLMAN, Willard (Bill) H. - Died July 2, 2007 after a lengthy illness at the Genesee Hospice in Goodrich at the age of 80. The second child of Ivan J. and Helena M. (Hoard) Colman in Tuscola County, Michigan. Born on the first day of fall September 23, 1926. At the age of 17 Bill joined the Navy for the duration of WWII and he proudly served in both Atlantic and Pacific Campaigns. He returned home where he attended and graduated form Millington High School in 1948. He married Joyce Jean Hope on July 24, 1948. They shared almost 59 years together. Bill enjoyed softball, bowling, horseshoe, cards, and fishing. He was always quick with a joke and loved teasing the girls and sharing a good laugh with family and friends. A lifetime resident of the Millington Community he worked as a a volunteer for the Millington Fire Department for more than 25 years, He was a lifetime member of the Millington American Legion Post #164. He worked as a butcher for Cobbs store for years and then he worked for Universal Engineering in Frankenmuth before moving on to Chevy Truck and Bus Assembly in Flint. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Joyce and their children, Calvin and Gera Colman, Burton Colman and Karl and Connie (Colman) Titsworth, and special friend and brother-in-law Bill and wife Faith McPherson; Sisters-in-law Arlene Hess and Shirley Kogut. 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and attained the rank of Airman First Class. He received the National Defense Service Medal and served with the data processing unit at the Strategic Air Command in Orlando, Florida. He was employed as a lab technician at the Hoffman Laboratories in Port Henry, NY. He later worked at the Yankee Hill Machine Company in Florence, MA, the Noble Manufacturing Company in Haydenville, MA, the Kollmorgen Optical Company in Northampton, MA, the Savage Arms Company in Westfield, MA and the Smith & Wesson Company in Springfield, MA. He was last employed for 27 years as a machinist at the Turbocare Industries in Chicopee and retired in 2007. Frank was very proud of his Mohawk Indian Heritage and while living in Port Henry, New York he was a member of the Golden Eagle Drum and Bugle Corps. He was a member of the Chicopee Sportsmans Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed fishing and hunting with his best friends, Walter Sidello and Jason Stompski. He leaves his beloved wife, Leona Margaret "Peggy" (Hoar) Sheldon. They were married at the United Methodist Church in Port Henry, New York on January 31, 1953 and were blessed with over 54 years of happiness together. He also leaves his loving children, Stephen W. Sheldon and his wife Ann of Chicopee Falls, Kimberly R. Sheldon Smith of Chicopee Falls and Todd M. Sheldon and his wife Theresa of Suffield, CT. His three cherished grand-daughters, Jennifer, Jaime and Miranda Smith. His four cherished great grandsons, Calum, Jarod, Austin and Hayden. His dear sister and brother, Mary Wright and her husband Ralph of Mineville, NY and Jack Sheldon and his wife Nancy of Port Henry, NY and many dear nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his dear brother, Merritt Sheldon and his twin sister, Frances Sheldon. His funeral and burial will be private at the convenience of his family. Born in Boston, Mr. Hoar was raised in the city's Roxbury section and was a graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School. He also lived in Dorchester for many years before moving to Quincy in 1970. Mr. Hoar was retired from the Anheuser-Busch Company in Medford. He served 35 years as a driver with the company and was a member of Teamsters Local 122. Mr. Hoar was an avid sports fan. She married Rudolph Launsby on March 17, 1941. They farmed in the Basford area north of Divide Center. In 1968, she was divorced and moved to Lyons. She was employed at Logan Valley Manor from 1973-92, when she retired. In 2005, she became a resident of Logan Valley Manor. She had been a member of the Presbyterian Church since 1971. 895 | [[ Obituary: George Edward HOAR March 1, 1938 ? May 25, 2012 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of George Hoar at Lion's Gate Hospital on May 25, 2012 at the age of 74. George is remembered by his loving wife Margaret. He is sadly missed by his children: Sharleen (David Motherwell), Corinne (Bernard Cordukes), Melanie, and Jordan. George was an adoring grandfather to Alexandra and Holden. He is survived by his brother, Robert, and in-laws Carol and Peter Snoeck. He is also survived by the many relatives and friends whose lives he touched. George was born in Vancouver (BC) in March, 1938 to his parents James (Jim) and Aileen Hoar. He was raised in the logging camp at Franklin River, on the west coast of Vancouver Island. At the age of 13, he left his home to pursue his passion for sport and completed high school as a boarder at Vancouver College (1955) while playing football and basketball. George graduated from UBC (1960) with a civil engineering degree and a place in the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame (football). He achieved a distinguished career in road and heavy construction, working for Peter Kiewit & Sons (Edmonton, 1960 - 1983), Ledcor Industries (Vancouver, 1983 - 2000), and 360 Atlantic (Barbados, 2000 - 2002) and serving with the Alberta (Chairman,1978) and B.C. Road Builder Association. George enjoyed playing a good game of golf, playing cards, watching sport, traveling the world, and the camaraderie of friends and business associates. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with and spoiling his family, in particular, Margaret. George will be remembered for his generosity, his love for all people, his wisdom, and the twinkle in his eye. A memorial service will be held in George's honour on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 @ 1:00 pm., at St. David's United Church, 1525 Taylor Way, West Vancouver, B.C. Hoar, former school superintendent Gerald W. "Bud" Hoar, 72, of Windham, Maine, a former educator, died of lung cancer Tuesday at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. He was assistant principal and then superintendent of schools in Tolland, Conn., from 1963 to 1965, and became superintendent of the South Hadley schools in 1965. He was the state's youngest superintendent at the time and served until his retirement in 1982. He started his career in Winsted, Conn., in 1951. He also taught in Bakersville, Conn., and New Hartford, Conn. He then became a business partner with Everett Reed until 1992, when he returned to Maine. Born in Westbrook, Maine, he was an Eagle Scout at the age 16. He graduated from Westbrook High School in 1945 and from Gorham State Teachers College in 1950. He received a master's degree in education at the University of Northern Colorado in 1951. He served in the Coast Guard from 1945 to 1946. He had been a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in South Hadley, South Hadley Falls Congregational Church and North Windham Union Church, where he was a trustee and chairman. He sang in the chancel choirs at the Congregational Church and Union Church. He was active in the Holyoke Rotary Club, particularly its foreign student program. He was a corporator of Holyoke Hospital and a member of the Connecticut Valley Superintendents, Phi Delta Kappa, Kappa Delta Phi, the South Hadley Choral Society and American Legion Post 62 in Westbrook., Maine, where he was post commander. He was a mentor for men suffering from breast cancer and recently published an article on the disease in the American Legion magazine, Legionnaire. He leaves his wife of 50 years, the former Emmelinn Fredericksen; two sons, James E. of Windham and John L. of Easthampton; and eight grandchildren. His daughter, Sharon L. Thompson, died in December. The funeral will be Friday morning at North Windham Union Church.
